GVJH Art Islanders will have artwork on display in the upcoming
Santa Barbara School District art show at the Faulkner Art Gallery
located within the Santa Barbara Public Library, 40 E. Anapamu Street.
The show will continue until March 30th.
Please come and support our young artists.

Art Islander Melissa Lam's artwork entitled "Reflections of Islands"
has been chosen among hundreds of entries to be featured in the upcoming
Channelkeeper Art show,What the Channel means to me...
An artist reception and awards ceremony in celebration of the Santa Barbara Channel
will be held Sunday, February 25, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the
Santa Barbara Museum of Art's Ridley Tree Education Center at the McCormick House,
1600 Santa Barbara Street. Please
come join Art Islanders and celebrate!

GVJH Art Islander Rene "Nino" Mireles won 1st place among all 7th graders in the
2006 Anti-Drug poster contest! He will receive a $250 savings bond and his
winning poster will be
featured in the Kids Fight Back calendar.

Art Islanders Emma Rennick and Guadalupe Rios take first and second place
in the 2006 Goleta Valley Lions Club Peace poster contest!

Way to go Emma and Guadalupe!

The Peace Poster Contest, sponsored by the Goleta Lions Club, is only one part of the International Peace Poster Contest sponsored by Lions International, a service club made up of over 45,000 clubs in 199 countries and consisting of over 1,300,000 members.  Entries in the contest are expected from over 350,000 students of junior high school age.  The winner of the local contest is Emma Rennick who will receive a $50 prize and whose entry will be sent on to the District level contest.  Second prize of $25 was won by Guadalupe Rios.  These two will receive their awards at a coming meeting of the Goleta Lions Club.  The theme for this year’s contest is Celebrate Peace.
