Life Science Midterm Study GuideThe test will cover :

q  Scientific Method (Ch 1)

q  Characteristics of Life (Ch 2)

q  Structure and Function of Body Systems (chapters 19--22)

q  Plants (ch 11 and 12)

 

Note:  Not all the parts of all the chapters are covered. Focus on what is listed below!

 

1)  Body Systems:  List the structures and functions for each body system.  Also know how organ systems work together to maintain homeostasis.

 

2) Create a concept map that shows the organization of cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms.   

 

3) Label the parts of flowers; know what each of the parts do and which parts of the flower are like which parts of the human reproductive system (p 380)

 

 

5) Know the types of joints in the skeletal system.

 

6) Know the parts and function of bone (marrow, compact, and spongy bone)

 

7) Be able to identify the organs by sight.  What do the liver, stomach, heart, kidney, or lungs look like? Draw pictures of each.

 

10) Know the characteristics of life. Chapter 2!!

 

11) Know the scientific method and the how to design an experiment.  Be able to identify the hypothesis.  Draw logical conclusions from experimental data & graphs.
