Medieval Society: We will explore the causes and effects of the
vast expansion and ultimate disintegration of the Roman Empire.
We will also study medieval societies, the structure of feudal
governments, and the spread and effects of Christianity |
| Oct 30 - Dec 15 (6 Weeks) |
The Rise of Islam: We will
study Islam during the middle ages as a religion, a political
structure, and as a civilization that continues to influence the
geographical areas it touched in these early centuries. |
| Jan 2 - Feb 9 (6 Weeks) |
Europe's Transition to the
Modern World, 1300-1600. The Renaissance, the Reformation,
the Scientific Revolution, the Age of Exploration and the
Enlightenment. |
| Feb 12 - Mar 16 (5 Weeks) |
The Americas: We will
examine the three great American Civilizations of Middle and South
America: the Mayans, Azteczs, and Incas. |
| Mar 19 - May 4 (5 Weeks) |
Sub-Saharan African
States: We will examine the geography of sub-Saharan Africa, and
analyze the importance of iron technology and trade in the developement
in of the civilizations of Ghana, Mali, and West Africa during medieval
and early modern times. |
| May 7 - June 15 (6 Weeks) |
Asian Civilizations - China and
Japan: We will explore the geographical, political, econmic, religious
and social structures of China and its influence on Japan andthe Korean
Peninsula during the Middle Ages. |
