RESOURCES FOR ACADEMIC HELP AT GVJH

Tutoring is available at lunch with most teachers. The sessions are voluntary and students need to bring work with them to the tutoring session. They may also have the time for quiet studying.

Math Tutoring is available by request of parent, teacher or administrator during period 7 (2:35-3:24) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Room 806. Please contact your son or daughter’s math teacher or counselor for more information. Math drop-in help is also available on Monday and Friday from 2:35 to 3:24 in Room 806.

Homework Center is available Monday-Thursday in Room 308 during lunch and every day after school from 2:30-3:00 in Room 301.

Conferencing between parents and teachers is a good way to get a clear picture of what is happening in the classroom. Conferencing may be in person or by telephone. Please call the school (967-3486) to request the teacher to call you.

Weekly Progress Reports are available through the counseling office. The student will pick up the report Friday morning before school and take it to each of his/her teachers and then home to parents.

A Study Area at home which is quiet and uncluttered, and a specific study time agreed upon between parents and students, can make a difference, as can parent interest and supervision.

Other Agencies or resources may be available for specific problems.

Through increased communication and extra help, many difficulties in school can be resolved. If difficulties continue, please contact your son or daughter’s counselor.
